Welder -- APM Terminal- Liberia   Job Details

As one of the current developments in Africa, APM Terminals is currently realizing an important investment in Monrovia, Liberia in
close cooperation with the government of Liberia and the National Port Authority . In the coming months APM Terminals will start
to operate a terminal that can serve the new generation container vessels. This development will be of major importance for the
economical development of Liberia.
APM Terminals Liberia is very interested in receiving applications from qualified Liberians ONLY for the below
listed position


Principal Responsibilities:
• Selects appropriate equipment and materials, and plans layout, assembly and welding.
• Lays out positions, aligns and fits components together, bolts, clamps, and tacks parts securely for welding.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment and assembles part by
bolting and riveting.
• When appropriate, employs foaming process (chemicals including polyurethane) as part of the repair process.
• Repairs parts by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, reassembling and maintains a neat, tidy and safe work
• Follows all health and safety rules and regulations for work area, informs supervisor of any workmanship issues,
requests checking of work when appropriate, and seeks approval of completed work.
• Provides training and instruction to the less experienced workers; provides complete and accurate reports as
• The key impact of these incumbents will be the maintenance of operational efficiencies in the terminal to ensure
availability of equipment required for the execution of day to day operational activities.


Requires completion of high school and completion of vocational training and / or apprenticeship in welding and
fabrication. Certification as a welder will be essential.
• Requires at least three years of specific work experience specifically in welding & fabrication. Any experience in
the repair of refrigerated containers, including welding/fabrication, at a container repair centre would be preferable.
• Requires thorough understanding of welding and fabrication techniques, demonstrated ability to use a variety of
welding and fabrication tools and equipment, for both stainless steel and aluminium surfaces.
• Requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Requires excellent math aptitude, and the ability to use various measuring and other tools, and to perform
calculations needed for fabrication process.
• Requires the ability to follow instructions & plan the work day.
