Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient handling of the organization daily transportation needs. The
driver will ensure that the vehicles are well maintained and equipped with necessary tools. The drivers report
to the Base Manager in the field offices. The specific duties and responsibilities are listed below:
Ensure that IRC driving policy is followed and respected at all times;
Serves as both a local and long distance driver of IRC vehicles;
Drive safely, showing proper respect to Liberian motor-vehicle laws, pedestrians, other drivers, Liberia police,
check point guards and other officers;
Use the safety seat belt and follow all traffic laws at all time while driving;
Maintain the vehicle in good working condition. Carry out routine maintenance checks and inform the
transportation officer when ever repairs and maintenance work are required (per IRC vehicle policy);
Maintain IRC records and logs of mileage and fuel used by vehicles;
Ensure that vehicle is fueled before going home at the end of the day;
Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned at all times;
At no time is a driver allowed to transport non-IRC personnel unless approved by the Country Director, Deputy
Director or Program Manager;
Report immediately to the Base Manager of an accident by written report;
Police report is required within 48 hours and the report will then be submitted to the Country Director;
Ensure that all IRC security rules and procedures are respected at all times.
